"City of orgies, of walks and joys! Lovers, continual lovers, only repay me." Take to the streets of the Castro as Walt Whitman's poetry is yanked from the shelf and presented in a fiery performance that manifests it's raw, vulnerable, and boundless heart. Through Whitman's words alone and marking the 150 Anniversary of his erotic and personal "Calamus" poems, Ryan Hayes reveals the importance of one of America's great poetic visionaries and instigators of gay liberation. "Boys Together Clinging" is a performance that will move you to "celebrate the need of comrades."
Ryan Hayes has acted in both theater and film in San Francisco for over 10 years and for most of his life before that. He is a founding member of No Nude Men Productions, one of S.F.'s longest running indy theater troupes and has appeared with them in such shows as "The Monk","Hamlet", and "Love's Labor's Lost," to name a few. "Boys Together Clinging: The Gay Poetry of Walt Whitman," is Ryan's first solo-performance. For more information: http://www.sffringe.org/fringe10/10plays/boys.html
