Tour de Castro - The Tour de Castro is a tricycle race, pub crawl, costume contest, and charity fundraiser, all squeezed into one afternoon and some tight sequined dresses. Hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the event is a reincarnation of a popular fundraiser known as the Great Tricycle Race, held from 1972 to 1993, where teams in drag (one member riding a tricycle and the other pushing it) raised money for charity by racing from bar-to-bar in the Castro District. Revived by the Sisters in 2006, the race raises not only money but lots of laughter as the queens-for-a-day charge along Upper Market and through the Castro in their wigs and high heels. Prizes are awarded for Most Money Raised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best Glutes, Best Decorated Trike, Biggest Hair, and Most Outrageous.
